Will God fix the leak?

I suppose this will go in the "why won't god heal amputees" queue.

You say that as though you didn't think God would fix the leak. Ye of little faith...

Well, being of the opinion that miraculous events typically have symbolic meaning, I'm not sure why God would bother doing us a solid on this one.

[oftopic] Why would God take a dump on this one? That is what "doing a solid" means isn't it?[/oftopic]

Back on topic, are there any scriptural references where God actually intervened in the case of a man made disaster? I am interested to explore that - what is the implications of God fixing stuff we break?

No, I was using "doing a solid" in the sense of "doing a favor." :-)

Well, whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, et cetera. But yes, one of God's less likable features, in practice, is that he will intervene to make a point, or to show off, but not to help anyone. Even in Exodus: "Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied...". Helping the Israelites seems to have been a secondary concern; they would've been better off if Pharaoh had hearkened sooner.

But partly I was joking, and partly it appears to me that reasonably sophisticated Christians (not, e.g., Sarah Palin) generally do assume that God will not intervene in the world in any large way, and I wonder why.
